I learned this meditation from my astrologer Robert Ayers in the beginning of 2016 who is currently based out of Lake Tahoe, Ca. He learned first hand from Maharishi who developed this meditation in the 1960’s. Robert travelled all over the world with the Maharishi teaching Transcendental Meditation. This meditation came to me when I was going through a breakup, doing deep healing, and starting my business Higher Flow. It has changed my life because it connects me to my soul and helps me to respond to life rather than react. I highly recommend it because it increases calmness, creativity, energy, clarity of mind, and happiness.
Hundreds of published research studies found the TM technique to be highly effective for stress-related conditions, brain function, and cardiovascular health. Impacted millions of people in a positive way.
This silent mantra meditation connects you with your higher spiritual self, source, God. This meditation is about becoming enlightened and self realized. The meditation is easy; you organizing your life to make it a priority is the challenge for some.
Lot's of meditations stay at the conscious level. This goes from the conscious to sub conscious to super conscious (transcended, pure consciousness, source) This is the real goal of meditation.
Each one of us embodies pure love, wisdom, and power. But not many of us are not living it because we are not connecting with what we are (the true higher spiritual self) We are all individualized expressions of God.
Directions:
Find a quiet space to do your meditation with little disturbances.
Sit vertical in a chair with back support because you want physical discomfort. This allows you to go deeper and lose sense of your physical body. If the physical body is uncomfortable, it's going to draw your attention outward and keep you at the surface level.
Do five minutes of Alternate Nostril Breathing (Nadi Shodhana) When we settle the breathing down, we settle the mind down. We start the meditation at a deeper level so we can go deeper within the meditation. Go with the natural rhythm of the breathing- do not force or impose. Breath will get slower and more shallow. Close the right nostril with you right thumb – exhale out your left nostril -inhale through your left nostril – close your left nostril with your right middle finger -exhale out your right nostril – inhale through your right nostril – Repeat. Check your clock when you believe five minutes is up, go back into the breathing exercise if you have not reached five minutes.
After five minutes, rest comfortably for about 1 minute before you start the mantra.
Meditation for twenty minutes. Say the universal mantra to yourself, SO HUM which means I AM THAT (I the microcosm, am that the macrocosm) Thinking this divine thought or idea allows you to accelerate the conscious realization that you are an individualized expression of God/source. But the benefit of the mantra is not in it's meaning. The benefit of the mantra is in it's vibrational frequency. This mantra is a science of sound, through the mental repetition of the mantra you create a resonance or vibrational frequency within your physical brain but also within your consciousness (related indirectly to physical brain) and source. Think the mantra effortlessly and easily as any other thought. We think of it as a faint idea (so hum softly) The only thing you can do wrong is to try. Trying get's in the way and holds you back. Allow it to do what is wants to do- diving deeper within the mind. Your higher spiritual self knows exactly what you need, it's way beyond your conscious thinking.
Check your clock when you believe twenty minutes have passed. Go back into meditation if you have not reached twenty minutes. Rest for about two minutes after your meditation before rushing into the next task because you do not want to shock your nervous system and create more stress.
Twice a day: First thing in the morning (prepares you for the day and allows you to respond to life from pure consciousness rather than from our limited ways of thinking, feeling, and acting) and at night (clears the stress from the day and helps to have more profound sleep experiences). Wait 1.5-2 hours after eating. Do not use an alarm. Do not incorporate any other techniques during this meditation or you could mess it up.
Having thoughts during meditation is correct! This is totally natural and is a result of this stress release process. When you notice you are having a thought, easily go back to saying the mantra. When there is no mantra or no thought; that is you transcending into pure consciousness.
Make a commitment to yourself. After three months take a look at your life. Brings a momentum of growth to your consciousness that accelerates your evolution and brings light in your life. When you align your life with truth and love, the most amazing things manifest in your life and you notice that your entire environment is supporting you. You feel yourself growing, evolving, healing and becoming empowered. Enjoy the process!
